Pilates
This is a method of exercise and movement developed by Joseph Pilates which
is designed to lengthen, strengthen, stabilize, and tone the whole
body. Pilates focuses on creating strength of the abdomen, back, and
improves posture, flexibility, and improving overall well- being.
Gyrotonics®
Gyrotonic® incorporates movement principles from yoga, dance, gymnastics,
swimming, and tai – chi. This unique system elongates the musculature
and shapes the body, strengthens and tones the abdominal muscles, articulates
the spine, develops greater mobility in the joints, improves balance,
coordination and neuromuscular control, and increases stamina with minimal
impact to the joints.
Muay Thai Cross Training
Muay Thai Boxing is an age-old fighting style that originated in Thailand
and incorporates punches, kicks, knees and elbows. This one-hour class
led by former fighter, Joshua Rogers, is a total body workout that promotes
coordination, flexibility, core strength, and power. While this is a
non-combative class, participants can expect to develop speed and proper
technique when utilizing punch/kick combos. Come learn the same techniques
Joshua uses to train many local fighters.
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa means breath - synchronized movement. This class is a flowing
class using classical yoga poses intricately sequenced. It is focused
on building internal heat in order to purify all layers of the body.
Universal Yoga™
Universal Yoga was created by one of the most influential masters and
professional teachers in ex – Soviet territory, Andrey Lappa.
This system unites all other systems and styles of yoga and yoga experience.
Some of the motivations of this practice include knowledge, awareness,
growing power of spirit, and freedom or ‘conscious liberation’.
Hatha Yoga
Balances the elements of sun and moon – sun being “active” energy
and moon being “passive” energy. This practice is an integration
of different styles of yoga. Recommended for all levels.
Yogic Arts™
This style, developed by Duncan Wong incorporates the core strength and
joint conditioning of Gung – Fu, the fluidity of Astanga yoga,
and the healing touch of Thai massage. This form includes a sequence
of classical asanas, massage adjustments, martial arts, and yogic technique.
Ashtanga Yoga
An ancient system taught in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. It
is a specified set of postures which link breath, movement, and energetic
locks (bandhas). It is a powerful, intense practice which purifies
the body, cultivating the feeling of inner calm.
Children’s Yoga
This class is designed for children ages 3-6. It will incorporate the
use of yoga asanas (postures), and breath to bring harmony and balance
into the younger beings development. A great starter yoga class for
kids.
Children and Teen Yoga
Childrens movement classes will teach children how to move and express
themselves creatively. It will introduce a movement vocabulary on which
to build and expand their movements. Teen Dance Fusion will focus on
culturally diverse dance forms including Hip Hop, Belly Dance, Salsa,
and Latin dance forms, African, Caribbean, Modern
dance and more!
Urban Yoga
An exciting hybrid of Vinyassa Flow and Chi Gong come together to form
a challenging, rigorous asana and movement sequence set against the
backdrop of Urban music forms such as: Smooth Jazz, Neo Soul, and down
tempo Hip Hop. This class is especially intended for those who are
looking for a way to have fun without compromising the technical and
energetic principals of Hatha/Vinyassa Yoga.
BOSU™
Stability and strength exercises will be incorporated into this fun and
challenging class using the BOSU half ball. Exercises will be based
on yoga and Pilates movements.
Boxing Basics
This 60 minute workout taught by Glen Freedman, a former two-time Chicago
city-wide light heavyweight champion, offers offensive and defensive
drills, mitt work, bag work and jump rope. Learn the “ins and
outs” of boxing while burning fat, reducing stress, toning muscle
and getting into the best shape of your life. Sparring is optional.
The class is being offered in 8-week sessions, meeting once per week.
Capoeira
An Afro-Brazilian martial art which resembles a dance. It is a very physical
art form which incorporates instruments, singing, movement, and history
of African and
Brazilian culture.
Aerobic Salsa
Learn the fundamental skills of Salsa footwork and shines in this aerobic-style
class. We will cover the music, timing and counts of Salsa while learning
dance moves you can take anywhere! Each class will culminate into fancy
footwork combinations and choreography that will get you sweating.
Please, no rubber sole shoes or high heels. Soft sole shoes such as
ballet or jazz shoes preferred, but bare feet are okay too.
Latin Dance
This introductory class will cover the basic steps of Cha Cha Cha, Samba,
Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata. No experience necessary. Please no rubber
sole shoes or high heels. Soft sole shoes such as ballet or jazz shoes
preferred, but bare feet are okay too.
Core in Motion
This Pilates and Yoga based class effectively combines mind and body
techniques along with core strength and body sculpting conditioning
exercises to create long lean muscle mass, a more flexible youthful
body and an inner sense of peace and relaxation.
Prenatal Hatha Yoga
All levels welcome. A safe and gentle approach for women
in all trimesters of
pregnancy. This class focuses on body alignment, basic breathing techniques,
posture and form and achieving familiarity within traditional Hatha Yoga.
This class
promotes concentration, flexibility, strength and endurance while quieting
the mind
and prparing for labor and birth. Props such as blankets, bolsters and
blocks are
often used and are provided by our studio. Poses may be modified for each
woman's
individual comfort.
Children's Creative Movement Ballet
Creative Movement Ballet class for children ages 3 to 8 is designed for early development of technical Ballet and movement. In our nurturing environment, children will develop their physical conditioning by learning how to leap, turn, skip and dance with poise and grace! Through the course of this class, children will also learn rhythm, coordination, self discipline, listening skills, patterns in movement and confidence in their body. Please note that there is a dress code for this class. Girls will need to wear a leotard (black, pink or white), tights, and ballet slippers. Additionally hair should be pulled away from the face.

Thai Yoga therapy incorporates acupressure, energy meridian work, and yoga – based
stretches. The client will lie on a massage mat fully clothed. This work is intended

Swedish Massage
This massage technique uses light to moderate pressure. It is good for
flexibility, circulation, and overall relaxation.
Therapeutic (Deep Tissue) Massage
This type of massage uses deeper pressure to target specific points of
tension in muscles and joints.
Sports Massage
Perfect for those who lead an athletic lifestyle. This massage will focus
on chronic areas of tightness to restore flexibility and mobility to
muscles and/or joints.
Clinical Massage
Specializing in musculoskeletal pathologies. You may create a customized
treatment plan based on past injuries or chronic pain within the context
of a relaxation massage.
Energy Massage
This massage can incorporate a wide range of modalities to best serve
the individual clients needs. These may include Swedish, deep tissue,
or sports massage, Reiki or other forms of energy healing, shamanic
practices such as smudging or toning, meditation, visualization, breathwork,
and spiritual counseling.
Thai Hot Compress
This treatment combines the power of healing herbal therapies and soothing
moist
heat in the form of a hot compress, which is applied after intensive
work on tense muscles. Herbal compresses are hand and custom made to
benefit your needs.
